David O’Reilly

Short bioDavid currently works as Associate Lecturer in Education (Teaching and Scholarship) at the University of York UK, where he lectures on a range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules and is the department's e-learning coordinator. His research interests include second language metaphoric competence, vocabulary knowledge, testing and assessment, and the application of advanced quantitative methods to these areas. Prior to entering academia, David worked as a language practitioner in Serbia for several years. In his current Associate Lecturer role, David has written summaries and led practitioner and student workshops for Open Accessible Studies in Language Studies (OASIS), an ESRC and British Academy funded project aimed at making research findings on language learning, language education, and multilingualism more accessible to a wider audience. David currently serves on the RaAM Executive Committee as Secretary, having previously been Ordinary Member and Postgraduate Liaison.
