Short bioGill Philip is Associate Professor of English language in the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures, University of Macerata, Italy, where she teaches modules in English corpus linguistics, English-Italian translation, cognitive linguistics, and TEFL. For the three-year term 2016-2019 she was head of Department, she is currently deputy-head of the School of Humanities. In addition to her present role as Secretary of the RaAM Executive Board, she also served two consecutive terms as an ordinary member (2012-2016). Her primary research interest lies in phraseology, idiomaticity and figurative language, using mixed methodologies that draw together corpus, cognitive, and applied linguistics, with a view to understanding the interplay between cognition and linguistic communication.
