Short bioI am a 4th year PhD candidate at Vytautas Magnus University in Lithuania. My research is a contrastive study of metaphors used for depression and its symptoms in media discourse in English and Lithuanian. My thesis aims at investigating how sufferers are likely to communicate their emotions caused by depression via metaphors and at identifying metaphors that seem to be recurrent in different cultures and metaphors that are more language/culture specific. I am also interested in metaphors and their functions in psychotherapy and health and illness discourse in general.
