In 2010, the eighth international conference on researching and applying metaphor took place at VU University, from 30 June to 3 July.

The theme of the conference was “Metaphor and Domains of Discourse”.

The invited speakers at this conference were:

• Paul Chilton (due to personal circumstances replaced by Joseph Grady)
• Dedre Gentner
• Lynne Cameron
