Metaphors in Englishes around the world

We are pleased to announce a new RaAM-endorsed event!

On 20-21 September 2018 the Department of English of the University of Klagenfurt (Austria) will host the international workshop Metaphors in Englishes around the world.

This workshop focuses on all questions of metaphor usage and variation in Englishes world-wide from various perspectives, such as: metaphors as variety-specific traits, metaphors in idiomatic language use, cultural conceptualization and metaphors, universality vs. specificity of metaphors, variation of metaphors, metaphors in Englishes resulting from language contact, metaphors in multilingual constellations, and learner Englishes and metaphor use.

Call for Papers

Abstracts for 20-minute paper presentations can be submitted until 15 April 2018.
