Webpage Short bioLorena Bort-Mir is a cognitive linguist interested in the study of multimodal figurative language at the intersection of communicative modes, words, and emotions. She is interested in biometric research (how viewers react to these tropes in audiovisuals) on multimodal communication processing. Her research also considers variation in metaphor understanding across cultures and among individual differences.

She is a lecturer in English for Specific Purposes at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), and she is an active member of the GALE research group at the Applied Linguistics Department (UPV). In addition to this, she collaborates as a supervisor at the Ph.D. program "Languages, Literature and Culture, and their Applications" (UPV), and she holds an external collaboration with the GRAPE research group (Universitat Jaume I).
