Title of ResearchThe Representation of Women in Outdoor Advertising
Program of StudyPhD in Intercultural Linguistics
Research InterestsI'm interested in the verbal-visual communication of outdoor advertising, especially regarding gender. As a linguist, I am focusing on metaphoric and metonymic representations, particularly connected to the gendered body. Recently, I have become fascinated with another form of outdoor communication; namely, street art and murals. It is compelling to examine how the community represents itself (through its community murals), compared to how it traditionally gets represented (in advertising).
